Mylar Shades are different color, very thin sheets of dyed laminated Mylar that's been heat pressed to form a single piece of material that is durable and transparent. The first color tells you the color inside the house, the second color is the middle layer and the last color is the color to the outside. When silver is listed as the last color that means the material has a silver reflective backing which provides greater solar and UV protection.
Commercial and Residential Benefits:
- Reduce glare, filter out harmful UV rays, reject up to 90% of the sun's heat in the summer and retain 27% of the sun's heat in the winter.
- With transparent mylar solar shades you can maintain daytime privacy, maintain your full view outside while at the same time reducing glare in the work area that causes eye strain, fatigue and loss of productivity.
- Spring tension control (otherwise called spring roller) is standard but at no additional charge you can opt for their reliable clutch lift system for the really large shades

The spring tension control mechanism is standard Shades of Elegance roller shades and it is completely cordless. To raise the shade you give a gentle tug on the hem bar (or ring pull if ordered) to unlock the tension device. Make sure you continue to hold the hem bar as the shade rises otherwise it will shoot up and spin around the roll causing damage to the fabric. To lower the shade you do the same thing as you did to raise it, but in reverse. Being careful once again to hold the hem bar until the shade reaches the desired drop otherwise it'll shoot up and spin around the roll causing damage to the fabric.

The Clutch Roller offers a single uninterrupted continuous-loop pull-cord that makes operating large shades easier without worrying about equalization problems. The Clutch Roller lift mechanism features a spring-loaded pin that provides more leeway for slightly mismeasured shades or out of square windows.

The cassette headrail has a color-coordinated base and is trimmed with a matching fabric insert. It is available in white, vanilla, bronze, silver or black - the factory will determine the best color match to fabric color ordered. The Cassette features the Continuous Cord Loop Lift System described above.

The fabric on a standard roller shade rolls off the back of the roll towards the window. With reverse roll the fabric rolls off the front of the shade concealing the roller.
NOT available with Cassette Roller Shades.

Using a steel measuring tape start at the front of the window opening and measure back to the window or nearest obstruction - this is your mounting depth. In an ideal situation you want enough mounting depth to mount the shade fully recessed (flush mount) inside the window opening without any part of it sticking out. However, in order for the shade to work properly you must meet the minimum mounting requirements (shallow mount) for the hardware type selected (below).
Shallow Mount
- Spring Control: 1"
- Clutch Lift System: 1-1/4"
Flush Mount
- Spring Control: 3"

Mounting Options for Clutch and Spring Rollers

CM = Cloth Measurement Size: This is used for outside mounted shades when you know the surface area you want the fabric to cover in terms of width and you have ample room to move the brackets, specify "CM".
BB = Bracket-to-Bracket Size: This is the exact size of the shade tip-to-tip. including the installation brackets. Note: The fabric width will be approximately 1-1/2" narrower than the bracket-to-bracket size.
TT = Tip-to-Tip Size: This is the exact size of the entire shade unit not including installation brackets. When you have made your own adjustments specify "TT".
IM = Inside Mount Size: This is the exact width of the window opening. Specify "IM" when you want the workroom to make a 1/8" deduction from the window opening size so the shade will fit inside. Note: The fabric width will be approximately 1-1/2" narrower.
Inside Mount Information

Due to hardware requirements, there are edge light gaps on all roller shades. To avoid light gaps, Outside Mount is recommended.
- Clutch Roller's gap is 3/4" on each side.
- Spring Roller's gap is 5/8" on each side.
Installation Brackets
Clutch Roller Brackets:
This is the standard bracket for Clutch Roller controls. It may be used for wall, ceiling or inside mount.
This bracket adds 1/2" of projection for clearance when mounting over trim.
Spring Roller Shade Brackets
Used for mounting on the wall next to a window without trim or on the trim if it exists.

This bracket is used for mounting on the wall next to the trim. It projects the shade out far enough to clear standard trim.
This bracket is used for all standard inside mount installations.
Exactly as the name implies, for mounting the shade into ceiling and even the soffit.
The Footless is used in situations where you have limited mounting depth.
Available Roller Shade Hardware:
CLUTCH ROLLER SHADE:
The Clutch Roller offers the convenience of a single uninterrupted pull cord
that allows you to raise and lower large shades without tugging on the cord
or worrying about equalization problems.
The Clutch Roller features a spring-loaded pin that provides more leeway for
slightly mismeasured shades or out of square windows.
The Clutch Roller allows for greater coverage on inside mounts. The brackets
are interchangeable, left to right, so you do not need to install a clutch
end-bracket versus non-clutch-end-bracket.

** The maximum height for all Basket Weave and Habitat fabrics is only 60" due to the fabric thickness.
Coordination
The default Enclosure is the 2-1/2" - using the chart above the shopping

Enclosure. However, to match small windows with the large windows you can
order the 3-3/4" for a small surcharge for windows where the 2-1/2" would
normally have been used.
Minimum IM depth: 1-1/4"
Flush IM depth:
• Small Cassette 3"• Large Cassette 4-3/8"
Measuring Notes
The Cassette Shade may be ordered as Cloth Measure (CM). If ordered as CM the cassette will be 1-1/4" wider than the size ordered.

• Color Accuracy
Although the color scans on this web site were scanned with a very high quality scanner not all computer monitors are the same and do not necessarily display colors the same way. It is recommended that you have your video resolution adjusted to 800 x 600 or greater and your color depth set to 16 bit (high color) or 32 bit (true color). Most modern computers are capable of displaying 16.7 million colors at one time in 32 bit mode.
Note: B&W will not offer a product exchange or refund over a color related complaint if samples were not received before the order was placed.
Note: Color dye-lots vary between batches and so B&W cannot provide an identical match to a previously ordered shade. In addition, B&W will only guarantee a color match per order not per customer and so whether you're ordering by room or by floor it's best to order all the shades you want to match at one time. .
• Warranty
Your order is protected against defects in material and
craftsmanship to the original buyer for 3 years upon receipt.

the purchaser's sole remedy under this guarantee.

shipment from your place to the manufacturer and then the
manufacturer will pay for shipping the product or
replacement back to you anywhere in the continental United
States. Special arrangements will have to be made for orders
outside the 48 continental states.
• Measuring Instructions
In order to ensure that the fabric does not rub against the brackets the factory must take appropriate deductions and these deductions create light gaps at the edge of all roller shades that vary with the hardware option selected. Spring rollers have a 5/8" light gap on each side of the shade and the clutch roller has a 3/4" light gap on each side. If these light gaps would allow in too much light or reduce your privacy to an unacceptable level we suggest that you go with an outside mount.
- Use a metal tape measure only.
- Round down to the nearest 1/8th of an inch.

Width: Measure the exact width of the window opening at the top, where the brackets will be mounted. Be precise and round to the nearest 1/8th of an inch. The workroom will deduct 1/8"? (from the tip-to-tip size) to allow for clearance.
Height: Measure the actual height of the window. The workroom will add fabric for roll up allowance.

Width: Measure at the top of the window where the brackets will be placed. For Outside Mount, order as "Cloth Measurement" and provide the total width the fabric should cover. A 1-1/2" to 2" overlap on each side is recommended to stop light gaps.
Height: Measure the actual height of the window. The workroom will add fabric for roll up allowance.
