Mylar Shades are comprised of three thin sheets of mylar - the first color represents the color facing in, the second color is the middle layer and the third color is what faces the street.

Mylar colors with a silver backing reflect 90% of the sun's heat - 63% is reflected outside and 27% is absorbed - leaving 10% to be controlled via the air conditioner which will have a much easier time keeping the interior cool.

Eco View Shades are available in 3% and 10% Openness - a low Openness Factor (OF) means that the weave of the fabric is dense and that translates into higher solar reflectance and lower light infiltration/penetration. A high OF means the exact opposite - the fabric's weave is more relaxed which translates into lower solar reflectance but greater light infiltration/penetration. Dark colors reduce glare and offer a clearer view out but are less effective at solar heat reduction. Light colors reflect more heat but cause glare (the amount of which depends on the fabric's Openness Factor) and reduce the quality of the view out
